We believe true wealth is measured by more than just money. That’s why we are committed to making a positive impact in our community. When we feel a personal connection to a cause or see a need for support, we love to step in and help. Here are a few of the community organizations that we support.

Hospice of the Panhandle

For more than 40 years, Hospice of the Panhandle has helped those with serious, life-limiting illnesses manage their pain and symptoms wherever the patient calls home. Our experienced team of doctors, nurses, certified nursing assistants, home hospice aides, social workers, chaplains and more learns what matters most to each patient and their family. Hospice of the Panhandle is a non-profit organization providing expert care and support throughout Berkeley, Hampshire, Jefferson and Morgan counties in West Virginia.

Potomac Valley Audubon Society

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society (PVAS) was organized in 1982 as a local chapter of the National Audubon Society. We serve Jefferson, Berkeley, and Morgan counties in West Virginia and Washington County, Maryland. PVAS offers a wide variety of educational programs for children, adults, and families. Our goal is to get people of all ages outside to explore and learn about the natural world! In addition, PVAS manages nearly 600 acres at four nature preserves in the Eastern Panhandle that include trails open to the public.

Shepherd University Foundation

The Shepherd University Foundation receives and administers private funds for student scholarships, academic and program support, faculty excellence awards, and other initiatives at Shepherd University. It was incorporated in 1961 as a 501C(3), non-profit educational organization. Hoxton support focuses on general donations to the Foundation as well as funds for the Rural Financial Planning Project, The Center for Financial Education, Shepherd University College of Business and Shepherd University Athletic Club.

Jefferson County Community Ministries

Motivated by a biblical imperative, JCCM engages the community to provide physical and spiritual support for those in crisis situations and seeks to move those in difficult circumstances to independence and security.

American Conservation Film Festival

The American Conservation Film Festival was created by a group of volunteers who shared both a devotion to film arts and a commitment to conservation. They also shared the belief that attitudes about the environment are shaped by our experiences in it and that people and their cultures are an essential part of Earth’s biosphere.

Shepherdstown Public Library Foundation

Shepherdstown Public Library Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that aims to establish and sustain a vibrant public library community where curiosity, lifelong learning, and knowledge are freely available to all. Our mission is to promote, fund, and support the Shepherdstown Public Library.

Evergreen Christian School

ECS is an accredited high school where students experience rigorous academic curriculum paired with a biblical worldview. Evergreen Christian School offers programs that are both traditional and cutting edge. Your child will have the opportunity to be in a classroom opening a book, along with experiencing learning using 21st century technology.

Shepherdstown Daycare Center

Shepherdstown Day Care was envisioned and created by a small, diverse group of community members spearheaded by three women who saw the need for affordable, nurturing childcare and education for parents in the area. Created in 1973, Shepherdstown Day Care, Inc., Child Development Center was the first non-profit, 501(c)(3), childcare facility in Jefferson County. With $2,000 in start-up funds, a dream, and an unwavering board of directors, the Center began with accommodations for 20 children. Today, the Center is licensed to serve 100 children, ages 12 weeks to 10 years.

Friends of Happy Retreat

The Friends of Happy Retreat was founded in 2006 to respond to concerns of residents of Charles Town, West Virginia, about Charles Washington’s home, Happy Retreat, and its vulnerability to development in the state’s rapidly growing Eastern Panhandle—just 55 miles northwest of Washington, D.C
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Center for Financial Planning, Inc. owns and licenses the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, and CFP® (with plaque design) in the United States to Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., which authorizes individuals who successfully complete the organization’s initial and ongoing certification requirements to use the certification marks.
